The Town of Verona is a local unit of government made up of citizens mindful of the environment in which we live and who value the rural character of our community. The town is adjacent to the cities of Verona, Madison and Fitchburg. While situated ina rapidly growing part of the county of Dane in the state of Wisconsin, the town is proud of its rural heritage and natural resources. Over 70 percent of the lands are actively farmed. Portions of the town are wooded and have glacial terminal moraine, as well as other predominant features such as the Badger Mill Creek and the Sugar River. These resources offer habitat for wildlife including deer, coyote, red fox, native trout and sandhill cranes.
The Military Ridge Bike Trail and the National Ice Age Trail provide recreational opportunities such as biking, hiking, fishing, canoeing and snowmobiling. The town maintains over 40 miles of roadways, many of which are coveted by recreational and competitive bicyclists. More than 1,500 acres of parkland offer both passive and active recreation, including soccer and dog walking/running. The town, as an integral part of the Verona community welcomes you and sincerely hopes you enjoy your visit.
