****Snow Removal
TIPS****
Remove the excess snow
by pushing the piles of
snow off the road right
of way, AGAINST the lane
of traffic in front of
your driveway and
mailbox (if applicable)
for approximately ten –
twelve (10-12) feet will
allow for the ‘emptying
out’ of the snow plow
blades from the town
equipment PRIOR to or as
soon after the snow plow
truck has passed by your
driveway and or mailbox.
Keep this area in front
of driveways and
mailboxes cleared. This
practice allows for the
placement of the roadway
snow in the right of way
and also helps to
maintain the integrity
of the mail box and
post. With the type of
snow and the amount we
are getting this year
the volume of snow puts
additional pressure on
these mailbox
structures. This
strategy seems to work
well on town road
straight-a-ways… The
experts tell me those
cul de sacs, are just
plain difficult to plow
– however keeping the
mailboxes cleared and
“upstream” road right of
way might prove to be of
some help. Hang in
there, Mother Nature
does eventually bring
changes.
2010 Town of Verona
capital and operating
budget process has
been completed and the
town citizens have
authorized the town
board to adopt the 2010
levy with a mill
rate of 3.49 per 1000 of
assessed value .
Land Use Planning Updates
The Town Board has
authorized the Plan
Commission to review and
reformat the 2006
Comprehensive Plan.
Meeting
dates for working on
this project have been
established thru the end
of first quarter 2010.
The Open Space & Parks
mapping and
text has been
approved by the Town
Board and the ordinance
has been forwarded to the
County of Dane The
Town Board has approved
a task order for 2009
revision of the
Comprehensive Plan with
an emphasis on
reformatting the text
and clarification of the
goals objectives and
policies. Plan
Commission would like
input from town
citizens and property
owners prior to the
completion of this
planning effort.
