Established in 1847, the Town of Verona is a local unit of government within the County of Dane in the southern part of the state of Wisconsin. The Town is on the southwestern edge of Madison — Wisconsin's State Capital. The town of Verona has an estimated 2017 population of 1,981 and is part of the Verona Area School District.

Public Information Meeting Reconstruction of STH 69

You are invited to attend a public involvement meeting for the upcoming reconstruction of Highway 69 between County D and Valley Road in Dane County (see attached project location map).  STH 69 The meeting will be from 5:30-7:00 p.m. on April 13 at the Montrose Town Hall, 1341 Diane Ave, Belleville. WisDOT representatives will give a brief presentation starting at 6:00 p.m.

The reconstruction is designed to improve this section of Highway 69 to meet current standards and replace the deteriorating pavement. The purpose of this meeting is to present the current status of the project with emphasis given to the proposed right-of-way. Construction is scheduled for 2020. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the proposed improvements in greater detail, gather feedback and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Dog License Reminder

Dog Licenses are now due.  Any license applications received after March 31, 2016 will be charged the $5.00 late fee per dog.  Application form can be obtained at the Town office or online.

Annual Burning Permit Required

Now is the time to visit dnr.wi.gov and type in keyword “fire” or call 1-888-WIS-BURN.  (947-2876).  By getting a DNR permit, you can check the fire danger and get basic safety instructions.  In addition, if your burn will produce a significant smoke, call the Verona Fire Department non-emergency number at 845-9401.

Shared Table Free Prairie Kitchen Community Lunches

are offered weekly every Saturday at the Badger Prairie Needs Network in Verona at 1200 East Verona Ave, from 11:30am – 1:00pm.  Meals usually include soup and salad, pasta or rice, a chicken, pork or beef dish, a vegetation/vegan selection, bread, a dessert and drink. EVERYONE is welcome and no reservation is required – just show up.  

Town Building Inspector is Retiring after 22 years.

Dick Steele, the Town’s residential building inspector has served the Town for 

almost a quarter century.  Dick’s last day will be May 2nd and interviews are underway for a new inspector.

 

 

New Neighborhood Approved

A development agreement for The Woods at Watch Hill was approved by the Town Board in early March. The development will consist of 20 new homes located on approximately 50 acres just southwest of the intersection of Mid Town Road and Shady Oak Lane.

You can sign up to be an ELECTION OFFICIAL. This is a great one-day event up to four times per year and you can earn some spending money.  Some paid training will be required, but it is not difficult.  We welcome all people who are 18 and older.  Contact the Town office if you are interested at 608-845-7187.

above for information about the New Town Hall and Maintenance Garage to be located at 7685 CTH PD. The Town bought the site in December 2014 and spent 2015 working with designers. The project went out to bid in early 2016. With final spending authorization, construction could start this spring/summer.

Nine Mound Rd  Verona, Wi.  Join us to discuss the latest Town Hall and Maintenance cost estimates and sale of the excess land.  The sale of the land is expected to offset the cost of construction and a motion will be sought to authorize that expenditure.  (EARLY ARRIVAL SUGGESTED FOR IMMEDIATE SEATING.)
