Established in 1847, the Town of Verona is a local unit of government within the County of Dane in the southern part of the state of Wisconsin. The Town is on the southwestern edge of Madison — Wisconsin's State Capital. The town of Verona has an estimated 2018 population of 1,982 and is part of the Verona Area School District.

Town Outlines Schedule for Potentially Opting Out of Dane County Zoning

In October the Town Board issued a “letter of intent” to opt out of Dane County zoning. A new state law enacted in February of 2016 makes that a possibility. Several steps have to be taken in order to opt out, and those are outlined in the attached schedule. Ultimately, the Town citizens will vote on the issue at the annual Town Meeting in April 2017. In the coming months the Town will share the potential new structure for zoning permit approval and a new zoning code that is being drafted by the Dane County Towns’ Association. Heartland Farm Sanctuary – Unique feature in the Town of Verona

Heartland Farm Sanctuary in Verona, WI is the largest farm animal rescue in the state. They care for injured, orphaned, abused or neglected farm animals including llamas, goats, turkeys, chickens, pigs, cows, sheep, donkeys and more. It was founded on the idea that animals and people could rescue each other.
