Established in 1847, the Town of Verona is a local unit of government within the County of Dane in the southern part of the state of Wisconsin. The Town is on the southwestern edge of Madison — Wisconsin's State Capital. The town of Verona has an estimated 2017 population of 1,981 and is part of the Verona Area School District.

Representative Dianne Hesselbein will be holding a listening session

in the Town of Verona on Tuesday, June 6th from 5:00 to 6:00 pm.

All members of the public are welcome to join her at the Town Hall Community Room to discuss any issues related to the state legislature.

The state budget is currently being deliberated in committee and Representative Hesselbein looks forward to hosting the Q&A session with constituents of the 79th Assembly District.

Rash of Car Break-ins – Please lock your car doors to deter further incidents.

A Dane County Deputy stopped by the Town office to inform us there has been a rash of

car break ins — in the area.  We had been informed earlier in the week – Manhattan Drive had been hit.

Come Join the Party – Open House Celebration, Friday – June 2, 2017 from 4pm-9pm

The Town of Verona  is having an open house celebration of the new Town Community Center and Public Works facility.

We are hoping for a good size crowd and good weather.  Should you choose to sit outside and listen

to the music — please bring a lawn chair.  Tours will begin every half hour.

Volunteers Needed for the Town’s Ordinance Committee

The Town of Verona has several volunteer committee that advise the Town Board on various issues. The Ordinance Committee is in need of additional members, so please let us know if you might be interested in participating in your Town government by joining this committee.

 

The Town is working hard to update many of its ordinances. The Ordinance Committee reviews existing town ordinances or model ordinances from other places and makes recommendations to the Town Board. If you’re interesting in writing, research, policy, and even law, this committee would be interesting to you.

 

The committee typically meets the third Wednesday of the month at 3:45 in the afternoon. The meeting that was scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled.

Don’t forget the Dane County Town’s Association is

meeting at our Town Hall on Wednesday – May 17th.  That meeting starts at 7:00pm, but come for snacks at 6:30pm if you can.

There will be some discussions that will influence many of the policies in the Town’s future comprehensive plan.

The work shall take place in the first half of the day.

Please avoid the area if possible and be patient with any delays.

The road should be passable and traffic should only be stopped for a short time.

 

Town of Verona Neighborhood Walk Challenge week of May 15 thru May 21

Your Town Open House Celebration will soon be upon us —- Save The Date — June 2, 2017.

We are looking to get some spring maintenance from our Town residents by asking “Champion Walkers” from neighborhoods to help get the invites out, lose weight, feel great, welcome the new neighbors and enjoy the outdoors.
