Community Prairie Seed Collection for the New Town Hall

Great progress is being made on the construction of the new Town Hall facilities on Highway PD. The buildings should be enclosed this fall and move in is slated for January 2017. The Town will have a seven acre site, and part of it will be planted as prairie. This will create a natural environment and save on annual maintenance costs. David Lonsdorf, a town resident and member of the Town’s Natural and Recreational Areas Committee, has offered to coordinate the planting of the prairie.
Seeds will be gathered from a variety of sources, but one great resource we have is local property owners. If you happen to have a prairie and are willing to gather seeds this fall and donate them to the Town, that would be greatly appreciated. After we have enough seeds, a community planting event will be scheduled.
