Established in 1847, the Town of Verona is a local unit of government within the County of Dane in the southern part of the state of Wisconsin. The Town is on the southwestern edge of Madison — Wisconsin's State Capital. The town of Verona has an estimated 2017 population of 1,981 and is part of the Verona Area School District.

Free Compost will be Offered by Dane County

Dane County will be giving away compost by the car and truck load for free from May 2 through May 7 from 7am to 3pm to help backyard gardeners and growers get through another growing season.  The county will offer one load of free compost for residential use per person, per day, at the Verona compost site.  Additional residential loads and compost for commercial customers may be obtained for a fee.  For questions, please call Robert Regan at 608-266-4139.

The Verona Compost site is located adjacent to the east side of the old County Landfill.  Same entrance as Badger Prairie Health Care Center, and then follow the gravel road to the right.
