Creating the Town of Verona Open
Space and Parks Commission
ORDINANCE AMENDMENT 2002-02
Section 1: Title
This ordinance amendment is to amend
Town of Verona Ordinance 2000-02
entitled the "Town of Verona Open
Space and Parks Commission".
Section 2: Authority/Purpose
The Town Board of the Town of Verona
has specific statutory authority,
powers and duties, pursuant to Sec.
27.08, 27.10(1), 27.13 and 60.66(3)
WI. Statutes. The purpose of this
ordinance is to create a commission
consisting of Five (5) members whose
task it shall be to advise the Town
board on the acquisition,
development and maintenance of Town
open space and parks.
Section 3: Adoption of Ordinance
The Town Board of the Town of Verona
has, by adoption of this ordinance
amendment confirmed the specific
statutory authority, powers and
duties noted in the specific section
of this ordinance and Wisconsin
Statutes.
Section 4: Commission Membership
The membership of the commission
shall consist of one (1) Town Board
member and four (4) citizen members:
(a) The Town Chair, after adoption
of this ordinance shall appoint,
confirmed by the Town Board, four
(4) residents of the Town to serve
on the Commission. The term of
appointment shall normally be two
years, commencing in April, or as
soon thereafter as possible.
(b) Upon creation of the
Commission the Chair shall
appoint, confirmed by the Town
Board, two (2) members to serve
until April of the first odd
numbered year; and, two (2)
members to serve until April of
the first even numbered year after
the first odd numbered year.
Thereafter, two (2) members will
be appointed, confirmed by the
Town Board, for a two year term in
the odd numbered years; two (2)
members will be appointed,
confirmed by the Town Board for a
two year term in the even numbered
years.
(c) Whenever a vacancy shall occur
in the term of a Commission member
the Town Chair shall appoint,
confirmed by the Town Board, a
Town resident to fill the
unexpired term.
(d) The Town Chair shall appoint,
confirmed by the Town Board, one
(1) Town Board member to serve a
one- (1) year term to expire April
15th of the subsequent year.
Section 5: Officers
The members of the Open Space
and Parks Commission will elect a
Chair and Secretary from among its
membership and shall keep a public
record of its resolutions,
transactions, findings and
recommendations.
Section 6: Meetings
All meetings of the Open Space and
parks Commission will comply with
Wisconsin statutory provisions for
the meetings of a governmental body.
Section 7: Functions
The Open Space and Parks Commission
shall have the following functions:
(a) To make, adopt, and recommend
to the Town Board a Town Plan for
Open Space and Parks. The purpose
of the plan is to guide and
promote a harmonious development
of Open Space and Parks in the
Town for the betterment of Town
residents and visitors.
(b) To exercise such other powers
set forth in section 27.08, 27.10
(1), 27.13 and 60.66 of the WI
Statutes as are compatible with
town government.
SECTION 8. Effective Date
This ordinance shall take effect
immediately upon passage and posting
as provided by law.

An ordinance to Create an Open Space
& Parks Commission for the Town of
Verona Verona, Wisconsin
Section 1: Title/Purpose
This ordinance is entitled the "Town
of Verona Open Space and Parks
Commission". The purpose of this
ordinance is to crate a commission
consisting of Five (50 members whose
task it shall be to advise the Town
board on the acquisition,
development and maintenance of Town
open space and parks.
Section 2: Authority
The Town Board of the Town of Verona
has specific statutory authority,
powers and duties, pursuant to Sec.
27.08, 27.13 and 60.66(3) (1995-96)
Wis. Stats.
Section 3: Adoption of Ordinance
The Town Board of the Town of Verona
has, by adoption of this ordinance
confirmed the specific statutory
authority, powers and duties noted
in the specific section of this
ordinance and Wisconsin Statutes.
Section 4: Commission Membership
