Thank YOU to Town Residents, Staff for your Assistance AND Epic for the Generous Gift of prairie drop seeds.

The weather was perfect and 8 folks showed up to collect seed between the AM shift and PM shift on Sunday. The group concentrated on Prairie drop seed as it is the most expensive seed and the estimate is that over 5 Lbs was collected. This is a wonderful contribution from Epic as it would cost the Town over a $1K to purchase this seed.

Dave Londsdorf and I have sorted the forb seeds and we are estimating that we have over 70 different forbs, many of them contributed by Ron Endres from Town of Middleton.

We will purchase some more grass seeds and a few forbs.

I believe we will have a first class short grass prairie and will add more seeds as we find other seeds next year. For the species where we have few seeds, we will plant drifts (neighborhoods) so we can harvest seeds more easily and distribute them to other areas over the years.

Again, thank you ALL, for your assistance and continued support AND Save Nov 4, 2017 – (Saturday)to help with the prairie seed planting at  7669 County Highway PD.  Bring friends along!
