Established in 1847, the Town of Verona is a local unit of government within the County of Dane in the southern part of the state of Wisconsin. The Town is on the southwestern edge of Madison — Wisconsin's State Capital. The town of Verona has an estimated 2018 population of 1,982 and is part of the Verona Area School District.

Town Hires New Public Works Project Manager

The Town is thrilled to have hired Chris Barnes as a new Public Works Project Manager. Chris’ job is to oversee public works planning and work with the Road Patrolman to respond to daily public works related needs.

 

Chris was formerly the City Engineer/Director of Transportation and Utilities for the City of Portage, Michigan, pop 45,000.  He is a graduate of Michigan Technological University and a licensed engineer in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.  Chris has worked in the Municipal Engineering field with both public agencies and private firms for over 35 years.  He began his professional experience in the greater Chicago area and worked for several years in the Indianapolis area before taking an early retirement from the City of Portage.   He is an avid bicycle racer and skier.   He also plays banjo for the Glacial Drifters.
