In October the Town Board issued a “letter of intent” to opt out of Dane County zoning. A new state law enacted in February of 2016 makes that a possibility. Several steps have to be taken in order to opt out, and those are outlined in the attached schedule. Ultimately, the Town citizens will vote on the issue at the annual Town Meeting in April 2017. In the coming months the Town will share the potential new structure for zoning permit approval and a new zoning code that is being drafted by the Dane County Towns’ Association.
