2013 Road Construction Events-White Crossing, Sugar River, Whalen & Sunset
Road improvements in the Town of Verona are scheduled to begin the week of September 3rd for White Crossing, Sugar River & Whalen, consisting of asphalt overlay and shouldering. The week of September 9th,work on Sunset Dr (from State Highway 69 East to Range Trail) will begin, consisting of grinding, pulverizing and sealcoating. It is anticipated that work on these roads will be completed by the endof September, subject to weather conditions and final contractor scheduling.
Some traffic disruption should be expected during pulverizing and paving work; however, the contractor will be required to maintain access for local traffic. Gravel patches , dust and rough roads will also be present at times. Construction activities will clearly cause some short-term inconveniences. It is our intention to minimize these inconveniences as much as possible. Your patience and cooperation during construction is greatly appreciated.

Building Permit Fee Schedule to be Updated
In February of 2013 the Town of Verona Board of Supervisors approved an updated fee schedule for building permits. The new fees will go into effect on September 3rd, 2013.
The new fee format has been simplified to state up front what types of improvements require a permit and what types do not. Different types of construction (for example commercial versus residential) are classified into different groups and fees has been added for new homes to ensure that all work is completed as required and Town resources such as roads are not damaged.
It is the Town Board’s goal to have the building inspection service offset through fees rather than the general tax levy. Fees were last updated in 2007.
The new fee schedule is included below. If you have questions, please contact the Building Inspector at 608-209-3907.
