Spring Road Weight Limits in Place

Hauling permits are required year round for the following roads for loads over 5 tons per axle or 10 tons for any two truck axles that are under 8 feet apart:

  • Country View Road (Town Line N. to CTH PD)
  • Fitchrona Road
  • Grandview Road (Old PB E to Fitchrona)
  • Locust Drive (Town Line S to CTH 69)
  • Mid Town Road (Meadow Rd west to Timber Lane)
  • Range Trail (CTH M S to Town Line)
  • Timber Lane (Town Line S to STH 69)
  • Whalen Road (Town Line E to Fitchrona)
  • White Crossing Road (CTH PD south to Town Line)

Additionally, the hauling of heavy loads is prohibited on the following roads from approximately March  1 to April 30 (the Town Road Patrolman can suspend the ban when he feels the threat to the roads is over):

  • Sunset Drive
  • Riverside Road
  • Spring Rose Road (south of Dairy Ridge Road to Town Line)
  • Sugar River Road
  • Valley Road
  • Marshview Road

The Town suggests that residents and business owners:

  • Contact delivery drivers or contractors and inform them of the weight restrictions during the spring thawing of Town roads
  • Divide heavier loads in two smaller loads
  • Modify routes during the spring thaw
  • Conduct deliveries at night or in the early morning when roads may be stronger due to overnight freezing
  • Drive down the middle of the road where safe to do so

If you have any questions, we encourage people to call before they haul. Please call the Town Hall at 608-845-7187 if you need assistance with these regulations.

The State of Wisconsin also has seasonal road weight limits. For more information regarding state roads go to: http://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/dmv/com-drv-vehs/mtr-car-trkr/ssnl-wt-rsrctns/default.aspx

Thanks for your help in protecting our roads.
