Voting Absentee by Mail
If you would like an absentee ballot to be sent to you in the mail, you must request this in writing. You can request an absentee ballot via My Vote Wisconsin, by sending a written request to the Town Clerk at firstname.lastname@example.org or via regular mail at Town of Verona, Attn: Teresa Withee, 7669 CTH PD, Verona, WI 53593 or fax (608) 845-7143. Click here for the Absentee Request form. You may be required to submit photo identification with your application – please, no selfies. Please visit the “Bring it to the Ballot” (https://bringit.wi.gov/) website for information regarding the appropriate photo identification.
Each absentee request must include:
- Your Name
- Your Verona address where you are registered
- Mailing address where you would like the ballot sent
- Copy of your Photo ID (to see acceptable forms of Photo ID, click here).
- Which Election you are requesting the ballot for
- Your Signature
Typically, requests for mailed absentee ballots may not extend longer than the calendar year. You must be a registered voter in the Town of Verona before a ballot will be sent to you. You may not request an absentee ballot on behalf of someone else. The person who wishes to vote absentee should request the ballot.
Voters who are indefinitely confined, meaning they have a difficult time getting to the polls due to age, illness, infirmity, or disability, may request that a ballot be automatically sent to them for each election. Indefinitely confined voters do not need to provide a photo ID with their absentee ballot request.
Early voting for the November 3rd Election will be at Town Hall from:
Tuesday – Friday, October 20 – 23: 8:00 am-2:00 pm
Monday – Thursday, October 26 – 29: 8:00 am-2:00 pm
Friday, October 30th: 8:00 am-5:00 pm
Please note, the last day to vote absentee is the Friday before the election. There is no early voting the day before the election.
Who needs to register to vote?
If you have changed addresses or changed names since the last time you voted, you MUST re-register with the Town of Verona. If you are a NEW Wisconsin Voter (you have never voted in Wisconsin before), you must register with the Town of Verona. The state of Wisconsin has a residency requirement of 28 days prior to the election.
What documents are required in order to register to vote?
If you have been issued a Wisconsin Driver’s License, you must provide this number on the registration application form. If you have not been issued a Wisconsin Driver’s License, you may use the last four digits of your social security number. It is not acceptable to use the last four digits of your social security number simply because you do not have your WI Driver’s License with you. Failure to provide a WI Driver’s License number if you have been issued one will result in a delay of processing the application until the information is provided.
All voters wishing to register must provide a proof of residence when registering to vote. Acceptable proof of residence documents include: valid WI Driver’s License, utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, real estate bill, residential lease document, or any other government-issued document that includes the voter’s name and address. A complete list can be found on the second page/ backside of your registration application.
There are several ways you can register to vote:
