Public Involvement Meeting
The reconstruction of the Valley Road Bridge over the Sugar River will be discussed at a public involvement meeting scheduled by the Town of Verona in Wisconsin.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Verona Town Hall located at 7669 County Highway PD, Verona, WI 53593. Residents and
heavy route users are encouraged to attend.
The Town will replace the existing bridge with a new two-span concrete flat slab bridge and reconstruct the roadway approaches on Valley Road over the Sugar River located in Section 20
in the Town of Verona, Dane County, Wisconsin. Work will consist of bridge removal, grading, concrete masonry, crushed aggregate base course, asphalt pavement, guardrail, erosion
control items, and landscaping items. During construction, Valley Road will be closed at the bridge. Access to the DNR parking area and the river south of the bridge will remain open.
Work is scheduled to take place in the summer of 2023.
The purpose of the meeting is to present the preliminary plans of the work scheduled for the bridge construction project, discuss the proposed schedule, and gather public input. Any
comments that may be of interest to the design team are welcome. The meeting will be organized in an open-house format and interested persons are invited to
attend at their convenience. There will be a presentation at the onset to provide an overview of the project followed by questions. Representatives from the Town of Verona and Ayres will be available to discuss the design details, address comments, and answer questions. Displays showing the proposed project will be available for viewing. Persons with a concern or knowledge about historic buildings and structures, public lands, and archaeological sites are encouraged to attend this meeting or provide comments to the Town of Verona.
