Valley Road Bridge Construction Update
Construction continues towards completion of the Valley Road Bridge over the Sugar River in the town of Verona. The critical bridge deck pour was finished on August 1, 2023 connecting the span of the east and west abutments. In the ensuing weeks the following work items will be completed:
- Concrete parapet walls/bridge railing
- Backfilling and riprap installation
- Paving of the asphalt approaches on Valley Road
- Guardrail and final turf restoration
The expected opening of the bridge and Valley Road, dependent on weather and material deliveries, is August 25, 2023. In the meantime, the canoe launch for the Sugar River will remain open from the Dane County parking area on the east side of the river which can be accessed on Valley Road from State Route 69.
